Meet Annika
Founder of Aloona Studio
My journey began far from mirrors and styling chairs — in Peru, volunteering at a children’s home after graduating from school in Germany. There I realised how nourishing it feels to hold space for others.
Soon after, I discovered hair as a craft — something I could shape with my hands, guided by intuition and care. I trained as a hairdresser in Aachen and later as a makeup artist in Los Angeles, working across Europe for film, fashion, and theatre productions — from Berlin to Amsterdam, from Cologne to Salzburg.
Eventually, my path led me to Australia. I spent a season at the Sydney Opera House, studied yoga and Ayurveda in Byron Bay for two years, and deepened my creative exploration through Arno Stern’s Malort painting method.
Hair was always there — not just as a profession, but as a way to connect, transform, and express.
Now, I’m bringing it all together in Byron Bay — a place that feels naturally aligned with my vision. Not as a traditional salon, but as a welcoming space for beauty, presence, and self-expression.
This work is an invitation to pause, to feel at ease in one’s own skin, to express freely, and to connect in a way that feels light and natural.
